Flame shows a single flame that grows and glows brighter the more people currently have the app open, anywhere in the world, updated live.
While the app is open, it holds a live connection to our server so it can show the current number of people using the app. This is never logged or stored per-person, and disappears the moment you close the app. We also keep a small number of anonymous, aggregate counters (how many times the "Share" button was used, and the highest live count ever reached) — these are not tied to any individual. If you turn on "Notify me on new highs," we store your device's push notification token — a code assigned to your device, not tied to your name, email, or any account — solely to send that one notification, throttled to at most once every 5 minutes. Turning the setting off deletes the token immediately.
We don't require an account, name, or email. We don't collect device identifiers, advertising IDs, or IP addresses. We don't use any analytics SDK or third-party tracking. We don't sell your data, because we don't collect any.
Cloudflare hosts our backend infrastructure and the anonymous connection count. Cloudflare does not receive any personal data from the app.
Because the app collects no personal data and offers no account, there is nothing tied to you to access, correct, or delete. EU/UK users retain the usual rights under GDPR and California users retain rights under the CCPA/CPRA; there is no personal data processed to which these rights would apply in practice.
Not directed at children under 13. The app collects no personal data from any user regardless of age.
